Make your own free website on Tripod.com

Here you'll find some hints and suggestion that may aid you in deciding how you would like your site designed. By no means should you take this as an end - all, be -all list of requirements for your site. As a matter of fact, you'll find that I occasionally break some, or all, of the rules when I'm putting a site together. It all depends on what you're trying to accomplish.

Now, within your site, you'll find that some of your pages seem to take forever to load. But if you take a step back, you'll see that what is actually taking so long is the graphics for your page. There are a couple ways to cure the problem. Reducing the number of colors within the image can shorten their load times dramaticly. Additionaly, changing the physical size of your graphics may shorten the time it takes for them to load. A couple of things you may want to consider if you have graphics or images already on hand and you'd like to change them to quicken your load times. We'd be glad to help you do it.

Cutting edge technology can also be detremental to your load times. Such technologies as shockwave, video, and audio files can take up huge amounts of memory and add long streatches to your pages' loading time if they're not handled correctly.

And if a visitor doesn't have the proper plug - in to see your movie or audio, they may simply leave. Taking their money with them.

There are sites out there, most notably microsoft sites, that a web surfer can not even visit if they are using a netscape or other non - microsoft browser (That isn't a vote for Microsoft by the way. In fact it's the opposite. Microsoft isn't going to go out of business soon but they are going to be changing their business practices soon. You don't want to get locked into their web ware when it happens!)

A company that is launching their business on the web needs to be aware of such things so that they do not fall into the same traps that so many other companies have fallen into. Talk to us and let us show you the way to being a sucess on the World Wide Web.
